C'è sempre un poco di apprensione nell'avvicinarsi agli elefanti. Non li temo ma li rispetto e dopo tanti attacchi ho imparato a conoscerli e a capire quando sono tranquilli e si possono avvicinare. Rispetto e diffidenza soprattutto quando ci sono i cuccioli. Imperativo è non tagliare mai la strada dividendo il branco, riconoscere la matriarca e avvicinarli molto lentamente e progressivamente fermandosi di tanto in tanto ad ammirarli e dare loro il tempo di osservarci e renderli coscienti che non siamo una minaccia. Vestiamoci con colori neutri, mettiamoci sopravento e molto importante non copriamoci di profumi. Ricordiamoci che hanno la memoria lunga e sanno che l'uomo è il loro peggior nemico. Ogni anno non si contano le stragi perpetrate per l'assurdo mercato dell'avorio e per il fatto che invadono le coltivazioni......... ma non siamo forse noi che togliamo a loro l'habitat?
