Pieia è un piccolo borgo di antiche case che sorge a 650 m di altitudine alle pendici del Monte Nerone nel cuore dell'Appennino marchigiano. La via più breve per arrivarci è la stretta e tortuosa strada asfaltata che arriva qui da Pianello, frazione di Cagli (PU). Arrivando ci si trova nella piazzetta con la chiesa, e un groviglio di casette arroccate, di cui molte sono ristrutturate; fatevi un giro per le viuzze silenziose e quando siete un po' in alto godetevi il panorama. Da Pieia parte il sentiero 20 (che è anche parte del Sentiero Italia) che porta a Fondarca, un luogo ? di roccia; l'imbocco si trova all'ingresso del paese sulla destra. A Fondarca si arriva in circa 15 minuti di facile sentiero; a un certo punto vedrete alla vostra sinistra in alto, il grande arco di roccia; salite e attraversatelo. Vi troverete all'interno di un bellissimo anfiteatro di roccia con le pareti alte e ripide. Probabilmente qualche era geologica fa era una grande grotta a cui è crollato il soffitto. Viene spesso utilizzata come palestra di speleologia. L'arco di roccia di Fondarca L'arco di roccia di Fondarca Da qui il sentiero 20 continua e scende fino a Pianello passando per Cerreto. Da Pieia partono anche altri sentieri che permettono di arrivare alla Montagnola, al Monte Nerone, a Serravalle di Carda, ecc? ovviamente se avete intenzione di farvi un bel giro procuratevi una cartina del Monte Nerone; se ne trovano anche della Comunità Montana del Catria e Nerone. fonte: http://www.luoghisconosciuti.it/pieia-e-arco-di-roccia-di-fondarca/
