L'Asfodelo è, per la flora, quello che l'Upupa è
stata per gli uccelli.
Ti ricordi Foscolo ne I Sepolcri ?
Oppure Ovidio nelle Metamorfosi ?
e ancora, o addirittura, l'antico testamento
nel Deuteronomio e nel Levitico e poi il monaco
normanno Filippo di Thaon nel suo Bestiario ?
E meno male che il buon Montale la ridescrisse
ilare uccello calunniato dai poeti ".
L'Asfodelo, dicevo, per colpa dei greci antichi
è divenuto fiore dei morti.
Nel mondo infero dell'Ade, oltre al Tartaro dove finiva l'empio,
c'erano i Campi Elisi dove risiedevano i buoni e infine i
Prati di Asfodelo per quanti non erano stati né buoni né cattivi.
Forse un transito come un Purgatorio.
Pure credevano che le anime dei morti, dovendosi nutrire,
scegliessero i tuberi di Asfodelo tanto che i campi dove cresceva
questo fiore fossero indicati come il soggiorno degli estinti.
Personalmente, come l'upupa tra gli uccelli, l'Asfodelo è
il mio fiore preferito.
Questa foto lo conferma.
