You have taken a particular time, particular note because despite the presence of many people, this lady seems isolated from the rest, as if her moment of devotion had separated and estranged from the rest of humanity and made unique and special.
It seems to me that the scene you have it handled well, both for the lights to the shadows, and the composition is pleasing, with the subject is not perfectly central and a good break from the background. The blurred background is pleasant and is used to set the portrait. The row of lights at the top creates a diagonal that gives perspective to the composition.
One flaw minimum, but just to get him nit is that cigarette butt (I think it's a stub) to the left of the woman, I would try to clone it because my eye may fall over every time I look at the immaimage.
I like it, good.

There is little to add to what was written by Barbara, perhaps the only advice I can give is to post it on "Magic Blurry" is one of the few examples in line with that feeling of fuzzy co-starred seen so far.
One word for me is amazing! ;-)

What a lovely photo.

Mystical atmosphere and the light from the candle that illuminates the subject by wrapping it in an aura wonderful.

Quoto what Barbara said for the rest.

Great shot, congratulations.

Meanwhile, thank you for the beautiful words and for the time spent on my image.
For Bzanna3 yes it is a butt I had missed!
For The Flying Cow is a thread that I have followed with interest but if I understand it should be the maximum aperture of 2.8 .. and this is 3.2.
For Paco68 you remember the days of the forum as canon and then it is nice to read you and look at your pictures.

ps
not unnecessarily burdensome for this wonderful initiative I've added a gallery with some portraits in which the candle plays an important role in my opinion.
If anyone here would want ...

Nothing to say.
I love it.
The contrast of light on the subject Vs. dark island environment even better protagonist and stresses
his isolation mystical / reflective.
The image is communicative and effective.
For me it is an example of a street properly done.

Compliments.
Hello.

Photo magnificent.

Managing the perfect light and beautiful moment caught on the fly.

Here there is little to criticize and advise, more than anything else there is to learn!

Greetings.

... a person who prays during a procession is not a subject that strong or particularly in his gesture, but it is well set off by a beautiful light and a great conversion. 8-)

All very well done. All well and good. All very well run. I saw the butt just "thank you" to Barbara, so even that would put between the defects.

But (that ugly word):

I do not know, can not move me. There is no transport, there is no commonality of emotions. The lady seems more concerned to bring to life the flame to ask something to the Infinite. His hat, knitted, her scarf, made in knitting, her coat, knitted, sweater, guess', knitted, at odds with the plastic bag or the bag pc. I can not understand what unites or diverge. I wonder, is a poor woman? ... no, it seems to be. He has taken care to put a cloth to avoid staining. I do not know who he is.

Here, writing this cOMMENTARY I realized I do not like. 100% wrong (but does not depend in any way as an angel), it seems to me that the lady is aware of who is around and wants to be seen and admired for his "faith." Maybe not, but it is the feeling that trasmessami, not without difficulty, I managed to find me inside.

NB: renewal complimented the sublime realization of the shot!

Fabrizio, because it has to move you?

You did an articulated reasoning, but I do not think you've come to the end, you stopped
a first step ...
Why in the crowd? And why there?
And if he was celebrating the memory of a loved one that something terrible had happened at that point
of the road? Then it would not increase the intensity of the image?
The contrast between her, lit up by feeling, and others, indifferent, dark and blurry?

But then what does it matter to us?
If instead of looking for a story we stop the image, not an image that conveys strong feelings?
He did his duty, regardless of thereal history, that we will not know ... maybe ever
Why do you ask these questions? because the image prompted you to do it ...
And then it works (but it also works because it is done well) ...

What do you think?
We are not out as balconies?? :-D

Crikey, I had to be away from the forum a few days leaving this thread as a train stopped at the station waiting for the start. I find myself on a frecciarossa 300 per hour. That's great!
If you can serve the general discussion place the "genesis" of the photo. The lady was lighting a candle. What perhaps makes the image different from other similar images is its location that is on its knees.
Do you have an overall picture of the situation. I added another photo in which she sings with a holy card in hand among the people. I do not know if you notice but the attitude of the neighbors seems more of curiosity and fun rather than respect.
I agree that sometimes we do too much bullshit about the still image. Works from the aesthetic point of view, emotional or all of what you want? And then it's okay.

Fabrizio, because it has to move you?

because faith always moves me. Do not get me wrong, I'm not a bigot, rather they are a Catholic cultural (ie recognize myself in this religion for the sake of the past rather than the hope of the future). However, the faith that makes people bend, the one who comforts a mother, the one that allows the man to build the cathedrals, mosques or temples, well, that always moves me. And if here, the effect is almost discomfort, it is because the woman is unable to send his faith.

Why in the crowd? And why there?

here, the point is this. I do not have cognitive elements to decide why. Then, instead that the reason I try touse feeling and ... well, ... I can not find the light of faith, but only that of the candle, and the concern to keep it lit.

The contrast between her, lit up by feeling, and others, indifferent, dark and blurry?

gorgeous! this is what I like to 100%. And this is about the photographer who was able to seize the moment and make it in the best way.

But then what does it matter to us?
If instead of looking for a story we stop the image, not an image that conveys strong feelings?

the strong feeling, often, the non-verbal language that communicates that, in the photographs, is the only communication between subject and observer. Here the image is strong, but the lingu3Cbr /> Yeah, but I pushed the emotion. But the distance between reason and feeling. The first tells me WOW, the second tells me ... well ... cute ... maybe!

We are not out as balconies?? Mrgreen

hahahah I infected! :-D:-D:-D:-D

I put a second post, because this is more aimed at those who took the picture and choose. My feeling is different from yours or anyone else's. So if you do not get to me but to you and someone else, then do not worry about it at all. It's called empathy, and in this, thank God, we are all different, otherwise c'innamoreremmo all of the same woman, we would have all the same friends, etc.. etc..!

Fabrizio, there is everything you say ... :-D
The subjective component, then, has to do its job, otherwise we would all be the same .... ;-)

I do not see in this image a latent vanity to show off the protagonist, maybe they are too
good (or naive) ... :-D
Now I'm going to review some pictures trying to be as bad, thanks to you ...
:-D:-D:-D

Just here the ot is outstripping science fiction!
:-D

Angel, sorry for the ot.
Seeing color images, I still clearly the most obvious to the most efficacious choice to convert to b / w ...
Great job ... ;-)
