I frutti della Fusaggine maggiore in inverno si aprono mostrando i semi di un bell'arancione vivo. La forma del frutto ricorda il cappello del prete d'un tempo (vedi Don Camillo ).Con il suo legno duro e compatto si costruivano i fusi per filare la lana.
