Qui comunque non è amore....é proprio fame. Curavo la mantide marrone da giorni..
Era malandata .....non le è parso vero vedere a portata di zampa quella verde...
Con uno scatto fulmineo l"ha afferrata e come prima cosa le ha staccato la testa.
Vedere mentre si mangiava la testa mi ha fatto un po' impressione. Qui si sta sgranocchiando una zampa.

Se l'accoppiamento non c'è stato..... beh, allora cambia tutto.
la differenza tra maschio e femmina si evidenzia con i cerci e con le antenne, da che mi sembra. La colorazione diversa tra maschio e femmina l'ho riscontrata in più di una occasione, ma qui della preda non si vedono né cerci né antenne. Il maschio è di solito più piccolo della femmina. Le femmine, se sno gravide, si identificano con facilità, ma non sempre se ne incontrano che siano in stato interessante.
Nella foto, comunque, a guardarla con maggiore attenzione, non si vedono le ali della vittima, quindi potrebbe esse immatura o, addirittura, di un'altra specie

Si sente sempre dire che la femmina é più grande del maschio, ma anche le femmine passano un periodo in cui sono piccole...quindi è molto difficile distinguerle.
Quello che mi ha colpito maggiormente é stato lo scatto fulmineo dell'attacco...una velocità davvero sorprendente!

Quanto alla nitidezza, ovviamente non sarebbe stato possibile mettere a fuoco tutta la scena, ma se gli occhi della mantide fossero stati più nitidi (è il suo volto la prima cosa che si guarda), la foto sarebbe stata da favola.
