Il sacro monte è uno dei diversi che si possono incontrare in Italia, ma gode di una posizione in cima ad una delle prealpi che lo rende interessante anche da un punto di vista paesaggistico oltre che artistico. Lago e Sacro Monte sono intorno ad una città, Varese, che è detta città giardino, per la presenza di molto verde.
