The light is not helped you, the background says it all ......
The colors of the back are a bit dull.
For the rest a nice picture.

The background penalizes much shooting. The colors are rather dull

Unfortunately the only thing that we can not choose and 'just the light, but do not do this shot would have been a sin and' still a photo that I really like even if the light does not do justice to the beauty of the shot

Really thank you all for the comments very welcome :-)
I agree with the observation of very small pdf. Often using the 300mm tend to use intermediate diaphragms, rather than closed ones. In this case, with the 600, it was necessary propio a F.11 / F.13, and you could also do given the relative immobility of the subject ..... but some with these diaphragms, accortomi of 'error, I shot ;-)

I also agree on not eccezzionalità of background, substantially free of blur, out of focus and then three-dimensional.

Share a little less evaluation "aesthetic" of light. The gloomy days prefer them because of the softness of the light, even with all the limitations they impose on the shooting mode. It 's obviously a matter of personal taste which takes nothing away to your consideration, but I think that, especially with subjects with plumage much saturated or contrasted a soft light that lowers the contrast even wasting belongloopable the dynamic tonal range (the colors that appear dull), is able to make better softness and tonal passages of the feathers.

Thanks again to everyone.

Excellent sharpness on the head. As you say the "light" brought out the detail (at least in the areas in focus). I like a whole lot. Hello
