91 natural light exposures at ISO 200 of a Helophilus hoverfly.

Aperture used: f7.1 for the first 21 exposures and f4.5 for the rest.

Photographed on 30.08.2012.

Magnification on FF sensor: 3.9X

Fabio: I wish I could hypnotize all the insects, I'm sure there would be stunning images then... MrGreen But no, I only photograph them in the early morning when they are resting. I don't use any tricks to make them still.

I've changed the aperture because that way I could decrease the number of exposures required to complete the stack. I've started at f7.1 for the non-essential parts (the leaf the insect was sitting on) and when I reached the leg I changed it to f4.5. The step size for f4.5 was 0.1 mm, and for f7.1 was 0.2 mm. I hope I could made myself clear with the explanation.

Hana: Yes, all the insect are photographed alive and in their natural environment. I don't use any trick to make them still, I only take pictures in the early morning. Sorriso ;-)
