Hello Monica, I do not want to dwell purely technical aspects, because I think that for people who are like you in the beginning, it is important to concentrate on composition, so I will not spend any word to those who may be the technical errors of this photo, but I wanted to suggest a crop improvement in order to obtain an image more "essential" and less distracting. To make you understand better what I mean I am attaching below my own version, hoping to please.
As you can see I removed everything that I thought it too and I focused on what I considered interesting in the frame.
Let me know what you think.
hello
Fabio

Hello Fabio, thanks for your visit and suggerimento.Premetto that this is one of the very first shots and how much to believe there are errors in abundance, with opening times and more consistent, and the support of a tripod surely would have done a decent job, without PP underestimate a good ending ... but the scenario that night was so surreal that I was there to reflect nn, I stopped the car in the middle of the road, jumped into the vineyard ... and you could see all the way ... Alps, the one that stands out x the greater the Monviso .. under this strip of the raging storm clouds with sunset coloring all rose, and above the clouds on bright blue sky and crystal clear ... but the vast remoteness and lack of clarity of the air ice (there was -5 °) x never helped anything ... that's why I did not give a clean cut, and also because, even if superfluo perhaps, I paid more the eye. Anyway, thanks for the advice and I look to the future, but on the whole, nn only on the composition, otherwise the mistakes I take them back .. ;-) :-)

I understand your point of view Monica, mine was just a suggestion of composition, because in my opinion the protagonists of this shot is the village where the steeple, and the beautiful horizon with the unmistakable shape of Monviso, then a cut very large as your eye tends to wander that is hard to grasp the essential ;-)
At the level of the post, the first thing I notice is the purple on the clouds of the sky and the top of a yellow / verdastro...come You said it yourself the horizon was pink and the top of the blue sky, so this might be a first step to work on looking at the shot from a strictly technical point of view. Also the noise is quite noticeable, but then again the post then you learn and obviously takes time, of course, the same goes for the composition, but a well-composed picture is always nice though imperfect, a fotcomposed of evil or perfect but always remains a poor shot ;-)

The particular color scheme makes wonderful composition. For the noise, unfortunately I know very well having the same equipment. It 'a constant struggle to decrease in PP. Given the remoteness of the subject, I would have used a diaphragm type f11. Of amazing is that the 18-105 has a stabilizer that works well up to a quarter of a second, on the other hand to 1/50 seems to disappear. The image I like it! ;-)

Fulvio hello, thanks for the comment and glad you like it despite the inaccuracies .. as mentioned earlier was one of the first few shots and I confess I barely know turn it on ... let's say that it is one of those shots where you affections even if they leave to be desired .... but really glad you like it. :-)
