Isola di Zanzibar. La particolarità della parte orientale di Zanzibar sono le maree. A circa due km dalla riva c'è la barriera corallina. Oltre c'è il mare aperto oceanico, freddo e profondo. Prima invece ci sono pochi metri d'acqua che a fisarmonica salgono o scendono per effetto delle maree. Le barche a bilanciere dei pescatori vengono smontate o rimontate, con della semplice corda, secondo necessità, quando tornano a riva o quando devono partire invece per la pesca in mare aperto, come in questo caso.
