Mentre in Italia imperversava il maltempo io mi godevo il sole caldo delle Canarie alla faccia di un'estate da noi iniziata tardi e finita presto. Una vacanza da trascorrere in totale relax. Inizialmente volevo lasciare a casa tutta l'attrezzatura fotografica per passare un'intera settimana senza far niente. Alla fine, convinto anche dalla mia ragazza, portai con me lo stretto neccessario per fare qualche foto ricordo come ai vecchi tempi quando scattavo senza preoccuparmi di tecnica e composizione. Durante un'escursione in barca a largo delle coste di Lanzarote, alla vista di un svariato numero di gabbiani reali che si avvicinavano all'imbarcazione all'ora di pranzo attirati dal cibo che si era cucinato a bordo, accesero in me la voglia di dar sfogo all'otturatore(una bella ragazza non avrebbe fatto lo stesso effetto). La confidenza che questi gabbiani avevano nei confronti dell'uomo mi ha dato la possibilità di scattare foto ravvicinate a 55mm, una focale che mi permise anche di includere l'ambiente retrostante ed infine la mia posizione rialzata(in cima alla barca) mi offrì un punto di ripresa all'altezza dei soggetti realizzando immagini che dessero l'impressione che stessi volando con loro. Ottobre 2013, giovane esemplare di gabbiano reale e sullo sfondo la spiaggia di playa de papagayo, Lanzarote.
