Molto raro no, anche perché è una specie in espansione in tutta l'Europa orientale, però tendenzialmente è notturno, specialmente dove è perseguitato. Invece a Ultima Frontiera, dove non ha nulla da temere, lo si può osservare spesso anche di giorno
