Per raccontarvela tutta, nei paraggi a sorvegliare la zona c'era anche la sorella della leonessa, la mamma degli altri cuccioli un po' più grandi che vedete. La leonessa che invece aveva appena partorito 3 cuccioli (di cui uno nato morto che si vede a sinistra) era nascosta sotto un tronco, in un'insenatura che rendeva difficili anche le riprese fotografiche. I cuginetti un po' più grandi le gironzolavano comunque attorno e prendevano il latte da lei, sottraendolo ai nascituri che a malapena si trascinavano, per poi scivolare, sulla pancia della mamma. Il giorno dopo i cuginetti vennero spostati dalla loro mamma in un altro luogo non distante, in modo da permettere ai due piccoli appena nati di mangiare tranquillamente dalla loro mamma. Passammo quasi tre giornate intere con loro: ricordo ancora i "miagolii" dei piccoli e soprattutto porto ancora con me le grandi emozioni di quelle giornate passate con loro. |
