Posteriori arancio con sfumatura costale scura, alcune macchie postdiscali nere e disegni marginali neri. Femmina: ma generalmente più grande del maschio. Ali anteriori di colore arancio con sfumature grigiastre e bordo nerastro, sfumato di grigio. Presso l'apice è presente una macchia nera di dimensioni variabili nelle diverse popolazioni. Posteriori arancio con sfumatura costale scura, alcune macchie postdiscali nere e disegni marginali neri. Rovescio: ali anteriori di colore arancio con tracce di banda postdiscale biancastra presso l'apice ove è presente una macchia ocellate nera, pupillata di bianco e contornata di giallastro. Esile linea marginale argentea presente in entrambe le ali. Distribuzione: Alpi occidentali e Appennino Habitat: specie xerotermofila si rinviene nelle pendici rocciose del piano basale e montano fino a circa 1400 metri s.l.m. Generazioni annuali: una con sfarfallamento degli adulti in giugno-luglio. Piante nutrici: Festuca sp, Agrostis sp.
