Lungo lo sterrato tra Puerto Natales ed il parco di Torres del Paine nel Cile meridionale. Il guanaco, il lama, la vigogna e l'alpaca sono le quattro specie andine della famiglia dei Camelidi (che in Africa ed in Medio Oriente sono rappresentati dal cammello e dal dromedario). Il guanaco è il più selvatico dei camelidi andini; la sua altezza è di circa 1.80m e vive anche nelle montagne della Patagonia argentina e cilena. Può vivere fino a 25 anni ed un buon corridore, raggiungendo una velocità di 56 km/h. Questa caratteristica lo rende particolarmente pericoloso durante gli spostamenti in auto, avendo la pessima abitudine di attraversare correndo le strade e soprattutto gli sterrati: l'assicurazione contro i danni al veicolo in Patagonia esclude esplicitamente la collisione con i guanachi!
