il Museo do Alemán è un museo a cielo aperto fatto di sculture in pietra ricavate dagli scogli, realizzate da un eremita tedesco che si trasferì qui nel 1962. Manfred Gnädinger fu un uomo solitario che passò tutto il resto della sua vita in una misera casa direttamente sul mare, senza acqua corrente né elettricità, su quella scogliera dove lui stesso reperiva materiale per le sue opere, nutrendosi di ciò che ricavava dal mare e dal suo giardino. Alto, scheletrico, dalla barba e dai capelli lunghi, indossava solo un perizoma restando per il resto nudo durante tutto l'anno, insensibile all'inverno così come alle fredde acque oceaniche dove era solito nuotare. Man, come veniva affettuosamente chiamato dagli abitanti locali, trascorse una vita lontana dalle comodità e dal materialismo della vita moderna fino al 2002, l'anno in cui morì. Un mese prima della sua morte, la sciagura della petroliera Prestige non risparmiò le sue sculture, che furono ricoperte dalla marea nera e con esse la sua casa e il suo giardino. Si dice che morì di crepacuore dopo aver visto i suoi lavori, e tutto ciò che rappresentava la sua vita, completamente devastati dal petrolio. La sua morte attirò l'attenzione pubblica e rappresentò per tutti la prima vittima umana di quel disastro. Come per il resto della costa, anche le sue sculture furono ripulite ma il museo versa adesso in uno stato di totale abbandono.
