Appena arrivati in Assam, avendo qualche ora di tempo a disposizione, pur di far qualcosa..., siamo andati a fare un giro nelle campagne incontrando i Deori di cui non sapevamo nulla ma che sono stati davvero una bellissima scoperta. Sono una popolazione di agricoltori, poveri ed abituati a durissime giornate di lavoro nei campi che però non gli tolgono il sorriso e la solita disarmante disponibilità degli indiani.. Alla fine della giornata ci hanno inviati a condividere con loro un bicchiere di birra locale ed abbiamo trascorsi alcuni dei momenti umanamente più intesi ed emozionanti dell' intero viaggio. Per fare capire la loro generosità credo basti questo esempio: le donne che lavorano nelle risaie indossano grandi cappelli di una specie di rafia intrecciata simili a quelli che un amico aveva provato ad acquistare in Orissa ( dopo averlo comperato è iniziato a piovere ed il contadino gli ha ridato i soldi perchè è iniziato a piovere... ) e, siccome gli è rimasto quel desiderio , ho pensato di acquistarlo per portarglielo come regalo.... Me lo hanno dato e, seppure piuttosto poveri, non c'è stato verso di pagarlo perchè volevano farmi un dono.... Assam - India Novembre 2012
