Maschio: colore bruno scuro. Nelle ali anteriori fascia postdiscale bianca, suddivisa dalle nervature in diversi spazi. Sono presenti due macchie rotonde scure tra la prima e la seconda nervatura mediana e tra la prima e la seconda cubitale. Femmina: simile al maschio, ma più grande, con fascia bianca postdiscale più ampia, macchie rotonde delle ali anteriori pupillate di bianco Distribuzione: presente in tutta Italia esclusa la Sardegna e l'Isola d'Elba. Habitat: specie xerotermofila, si rinviene nelle pendici scoperte del piano basale e montano, da 300 sino a circa 1.600 m. s.l.m.
