at 14mm, 1/500 f/7.1, ISO 160, tripod. Parco Pale di San Martino, Italy.

Situato sulle Pale di San Martino è l'unico ghiacciaio trentino con la fronte in un laghetto proglaciale e uno dei pochi delle Dolomiti, ha una dimensione di 18,6 ettari (dati del 1999) e sta velocemente riducendosi. Secondo le rilevazioni del Catasto dei Ghiacciai Italiani nel 1962 aveva un'estensione di 65 ettari, e 100 anni prima di 162. Alimentato dalle sole precipitazioni nevose negli ultimi inverni ha risentito parecchio della scarsa nevosità: secondo il Comitato Glaciologico Italiano dal 1991 al 1999 la fronte del ghiacciaio è arretrata di 48 metri e fra il 2002 e il 2003 si è spezzato in due parti.
