Questa notte ennesima salita sull'Etna con il mio fraterno amico Nicolò, compagno di mille avventure. Davanti al fronte lavico, ogni riferimento sembra scomparire. Resta il buio, interrotto dal rosso della lava che avanza abbastanza velocemente, si frattura, si accumula e continua a ridisegnare il fianco del vulcano. La superficie si raffredda e diventa nera, mentre dalle sue spaccature riaffiora continuamente l'incandescenza di ciò che scorre ancora sotto. Fotografare l'Etna in questi momenti significa assistere a un paesaggio che cambia mentre lo si osserva. Ciò che pochi istanti prima aveva una forma, poco dopo non esiste già più nello stesso modo. Questa fotografia nasce nella notte del 18 agosto 2026, davanti al fronte lavico dell'ennesima eruzione dell'Etna. Ho cercato di lasciare che fosse soprattutto la luce naturale della lava a raccontare la scena: il calore (TANTISSIMO!!!), la materia, il fumo e il contrasto con il nero assoluto della notte. Davanti a uno spettacolo simile, la fotografia riesce a fermare un istante. Il vulcano, invece, continua. - www.claudiocarpinato.com
