Stereocaulon vesuvianum Persons sent on July 29, 2013 (13:09) by Marco Moscaritolo. 4 comments, 1451 views.

, f/2.7, ISO 64, hand held. Napoli, Italy.

Stefano ... this is a lichen that is, the symbiotic association between an alga and a fungus ... we can say that is very close to a moss (with which it is often confused).
this particular type of lichen you see in the picture is a native of Vesuvius, where there will only grows and gives rise to these clusters drugs.
They look like rocks ... but not at all, since they are more alive than ever!

Ciao. Aurora

Beautiful picture and very interesting this lichen. I like a lot, for the shapes and colors that take. Most interesting I saw them in the mountains, on the rocks, but this is not as I had never seen. It looks like a rocky bush. Congratulations for the photo and for the interesting document. Hello. Aurora
