Su una leggera altura del territorio di Motta d’Affermo, un avamposto in quota sul mare e prospiciente gli scavi di Halaesa, le cui coordinate geografiche centrano esattamente la consistenza matematica del trentottesimo parallelo, si erge l’opera dell’artista Mauro Straccioli. Essa traduce l’astrazione della misura terrestre in creativa percezione metafisica e suggella l’intrinseco legame dell’opera alla geografia del luogo. L’opera è un tetraedro titanico cavo realizzato in acciaio corten alto 30 metri ed è tra le più suggestive della “Fiumara d’arte”. Parzialmente sprofondata nel territorio roccioso, presenta una fessura lungo lo spigolo occidentale che rende ancora più preciso il suo collocarsi nella specificità del luogo e nello spazio cosmico. Come un faro introverso, testimone consapevole del ciclico e irreversibile scorrere del tempo, cattura la luce solare attraverso la fessura, registrando nel proprio ventre geometrico i riverberi luminosi dallo zenit al tramonto. Al concetto di immortalità, notoriamente correlato alla piramide faraonica, subentra qui il concetto più responsabile di transitorietà, attraverso il quale l’artista celebra la vita nel suo incessante anelito all’eterno.
