Taralluccievino, Daniele, personalmente sono affascinato dai rettili e prima di fotografarli bisogna conoscere bene i loro comportamenti ed il loro grado di aggressività. Per questa immagine ero con l'obiettivo a circa 10-15 cm dalla testa della vipera. Questo tipo di Pit viper ed in genere tutte le pit viper asiatiche sono quasi per nulla aggressive confidano sulla loro immobilità e mimetismo (restano ferme in attesa della preda anche per alcune settimane).Certo bisogna avvicinarle con rispetto e conoscenza. Sono talmente immobili che ho fatto alcuni scatti anche con il focus stacking per avere tutto a fuoco.
Il suo veleno è insolito tra i membri della sottofamiglia Crotalinae in quanto è prevalentemente neurotossico, con una percentuale molto minore di peptidi velenosi emotossici. Il pericolo di un avvelenamento da T. subannulatus è sconosciuto, comunquei suoi morsi non sono noti per essere fatali e gli avvelenamenti sono solitamente localizzati e raramente sistemici.Tuttavia, come con qualsiasi serpente velenoso, è necessario prestare estrema attenzione poiché anche le specie non letali possono causare la morte per anafilassi.
