Suggestivo complesso archeologico del Marghine, nel centro-nord della Sardegna: un nuraghe, un pozzo sacro e due tombe di Giganti affiancano una chiesa bizantina la Chiesa di Santa Sabina, situata accanto al Nuraghe di Sarbana, paganesimo e cristianità, preistoria e Antichità in questo luogo di grande atmosfera, dove si respira la storia millenaria dell’Isola, dall’età del Bronzo al Medioevo, in un vortice di vicende con un denominatore comune, la sacralità. A Santa Sabina, a pochi passi da Silanus, borgo del Marghine, in una piana sconfinata, 3500 anni fa le genti nuragiche stabilirono dimore e luoghi di culto. Successivamente, agli albori del cristianesimo, proprio accanto al nuraghe, quasi a catturarne l’ancestrale energia, sorse il primo impianto della chiesa di santa Sabina (Sarbana, in nuorese). Il piccolo gioiello d’arte, una delle architetture medioevali più significative e originali dell’Isola, fu poi rifatta tra X e XI secolo: il suo schema a tre vani coperti da una cupola al centro, richiama i battisteri paleocristiani di epoca tardo-romana. Del resto, spesso i santuari cristiani erano costruiti su luoghi di culto pagano per imporre la supremazia e sostituirsi, anche materialmente.
