Circa cinquemila anni fa, dal cuore profondo dello spazio interstellare partivano i fotoni che hanno terminato la loro corsa sul sensore della mia camera astronomica. Il risultato di quel lunghissimo viaggio nel vuoto cosmico è questa immagine che vi mostro oggi: la straordinaria Nebulosa Crescente (NGC 6888). ​Al centro esatto della nebulosa spicca la stella WR 136, una stella di Wolf-Rayet incredibilmente massiccia e instabile. Questo mostro stellare sta esaurendo i suoi strati esterni, emettendo un vento devastante che si scontra con il gas espulso in precedenza. Questo scontro genera una doppia onda d'urto che riscalda i gas circostanti, facendoli brillare. ​In questa elaborazione costatami svariate ore a pc ho calibrato attentamente i dati per immortalare la dinamica di questa spaventosa onda d'urto, differenziando il rosso diffuso dell'idrogeno ionizzato (H-alpha) dal delicato guscio azzurro/turchese dell'ossigeno due volte ionizzato (OIII). ​C'è una meraviglia incredibile in tutto questo: l'astrofotografia mi permette di osservare come attraverso una straordinaria finestra temporale, rendendomi un immobile spettatore della storia stessa dell'universo. ​Dati tecnici di scatto: ​Oggetto: NGC 6888 (The Crescent Nebula) ​Località: Domus Astrae Observatory, Liberi (CE), Italia Meridionale ​Date di acquisizione: 2025–2026 ​Integrazione totale: 10 ore (singoli sub-scatti da 300 secondi) ​Telescopio: Sky-Watcher 254/1000 f/4 Newtoniano ​Correttore di coma: TS-Optics GPU Super Resolution 4-element Aplanatic ​Camera di ripresa: Omegon VeTEC 571 C (Gain: 100) ​Filtro: Optolong L-Ultimate Dual-Band 3nm (H-Alpha / OIII) ​Montatura: Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro (con estensione barra contrappeso Geoptik) ​Guida: Telescopio guida Sky-Watcher 70/500 con camera ZWO ASI 224 MC ​Frame di calibrazione: 16 Dark, 36 Flat ​Software: N.I.N.A.
