Personally I would have shielded if possible during shooting, the light on the front. You can do a simple test with lights / shadows, reducing the brightness.

Regarding brightness: this is a very difficult subject to be rendered correctly by any stacking software. With a lot of black and white parts, it tends to be overblown or underexposed. In my opinion the final result is decent, even if it has some white parts very close the right limit of the histogram. Sorriso
