Questa è una foto che mostra la catena dei Monti Appennini, i quali sono situati nell'emisfero nord della Luna e formano il bordo sud-est del Mare Imbrium. La catena montuosa è lunga circa 600 Km e la cima più alta è quella del Monte Huygens con i suoi 5500 metri. Al confine occidentale dei Monti Appennini possiamo vedere il cratere Eratostene, che ha un diametro di quasi 60 km, più a nord invece possiamo vedere Archimede, un grande cratere con un diametro di 83 Km, sempre situato nel Mare Imbrium.
