Stucky La fondamenta S. Biagio finisce a un ponte metallico sul rio, oltre il quale, in uno scenario che quasi ricorda i dock dei porti nebbiosi del Nord, si staglia l’imponente mole gotico-hannoveriana dell’ex Molino Stucky. Il complesso, in mattoni, vistosamente fuori scala rispetto alle architetture veneziane alle due sponde del canale della Giudecca, venne eretto su progetto del tedesco Ernest Wullekopf (1896) e incarico dell’imprenditore svizzero Giovanni Stucky, che lo difese a oltranza dalle polemiche legate alle dimensioni e allo stile. A pieno regime, occupava circa 1500 operai. Decaduto, chiuso nel 1955, danneggiato da un incendio (2003), è stato infine recuperato con mutata destinazione: oggi ospita un grande albergo della catena Hilton, un centro commerciale, un centro congressi e altri servizi. All’ultimo piano del Molino Stucky Hilton, lo Skyline bar (accessibile a tutti) offre una vista spettacolare.
