Marco Gallo era un ragazzo del 1994 che aveva trascorso i suoi primi anni dell'infanzia a Casarza Ligure (GE), poi nel '99 si era trasferito in Lombardia con tutta la sua famiglia; fin da adolescente era animato dalla ricerca di un senso da dare alla propria vita, e questo lo portò in seguito a trovare la risposta nell'incontro con Gesù, la cui presenza cercò nel prossimo. Marco univa alla preghiera l'esperienza dell'assistenza ai disabili e agli anziani, coinvolgendo compagni di scuola e amici. Il 5 novembre 2011, mentre si recava a scuola in moto, una macchina gli tagliò la strada, uscendo da un parcheggio, e Marco non riuscì ad evitare lo schianto, complice l'asfalto bagnato; con la rottura delle vertebre cervicali la morte sopraggiunge istantanea. La sera prima dell'incidente, come in un presagio, aveva scritto sul muro della sua camera, accanto al crocifisso: "Perché cercate tra i morti colui che è vivo?".Da allora la sua figura e la sua fede sono rimaste nel cuore di molti. In sua memoria tutti gli anni, il primo novembre, centinaia di persone, la maggior parte dei quali non lo conosceva, soprattutto giovani, si riuniscono per partecipare ad un pellegrinaggio in suo ricordo, al santuario di Montallegro, sulle alture di Rapallo (GE). La sua frase profetica è stata incisa sulla sua lapide, nella tomba di famiglia, e ad accarezzarla delicatamente con un dito ho percepito qualcosa, forse un'emozione, forse una presenza extra-corporea.
