Le Due Torri di Bologna, situate in Piazza di Porta Ravegnana, sono il simbolo indiscusso della città. Costruite tra l'XI e il XII secolo, prendono il nome dalle famiglie nobili che le fecero innalzare: gli Asinelli e i Garisenda. Torre degli Asinelli È la più alta tra le due e la torre pendente medievale più alta d'Italia. Altezza: 97,2 metri. Salita: È possibile raggiungere la cima salendo 498 gradini in legno. Dalla terrazza panoramica si gode di una vista a 360° sulla città. Torre della Garisenda È la "sorella minore", nota soprattutto per la sua pendenza molto pronunciata. Altezza: Originariamente alta circa 60 metri, fu "mozzata" nel XIV secolo a 48 metri per il timore che crollasse a causa del cedimento del terreno. Pendenza: Ha un'inclinazione di circa 4 gradi, superiore a quella della Torre di Pisa. Letteratura: È citata da Dante Alighieri sia nella Divina Commedia (Inferno, XXXI) sia nelle Rime. Curiosità: Una leggenda universitaria sconsiglia agli studenti di salire sulla torre prima della laurea, per timore che non riescano più a finire gli studi.
