HELP ! Is it always a vulture or what? sent on 26 Febbraio 2026 (17:24) by Andrea Biagiolini. 14 comments, 108 views.

1/250 f/4.5, ISO 100, hand held. Torino, Italy.

a little voltoccio I don't know if it allowed you to get so close.
even if you can't see the beak. For me, those barrages on the belly are like a water rail.

It can be Fabrix, however shooting a vulture is very complicated, but not impossible.

I have photographed the voltolino several times and
I consider him among the most guarded and suspicious.
A water rail is much more forgiving enough to allow photos even if you are out in the open.

Walter

First of all, thanks to the participants: a photo of the "real" face is in this gallery of mine, experts have identified it at the Storks and Anatids Oasis of Racconigi. Maybe it could actually be a water rail given the extreme proximity. ;-)

With more attention I noticed that in front of the head you can see a tip that should be the beak, in this case it should be a water rail as the vulture has a shorter and yellow beak.

I publish another image, ugly, where you can see it a little better. It could be more of a water rail but keep in mind that in Turin we have Brachetti, King of disguises... 8-) Thanks again.
