Immagine, oltre bella, anche molto interessante e "didattica" che mostra la struttura interna di una colata lavica molto potente; durante il raffreddamento queste colate si possono fratturare piu' o meno regolarmente e dare luogo a parallelepipedi (colonne) che alla loro base presentano un numero di lati che dipende dello spessore delle colate stesse.
Non si tratta, quindi, di granito ma di una roccia magmatica effusiva.
