L'immagine di Piazza Prešeren è segnata soprattutto dal monastero francescano con la chiesa dell'Annunciazione della Vergine Maria. Fino alla fine del XVIII secolo, vi abitarono gli Agostiniani. La chiesa fu costruita tra il 1646 e il 1660. Una statua in rame della Vergine Maria troneggia sulla facciata, la più grande della città. L'interno ha assunto l'aspetto attuale dopo il terremoto del 1895. Una cappella apposita ospita la Croce di Plečnik.
