Aporia crataegi, (Linné, 1758) - Famiglia Pieridae - Sottofamiglia Pierinae - Apertura alare: Da 5 a 6 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni ad eccezione della Sardegna. - Habitat: Ambienti aperti e in prossimità di corsi d'acqua dal livello del mare sino a oltre 2000 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina da maggio a giugno. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Biancospino, prugnolo, varie leguminose e alberi da frutto. - Dimorfismo sessuale: Le femmine appena sfarfallate presentano, nella zona centrale delle ali anteriori, una ridotta presenza di squame bianche che progressivamente, con il volo, vengono perse rendendo quella parte delle ali traslucida. Le nervature sono di colore più chiaro e meno evidenti.
