NGC 2264 è un ammasso aperto molto giovane situato nella costellazione dell'Unicorno . Fu scoperto dall'astronomo tedesco-britannico William Herschel nel 1784 .
La dimensione apparente dell'ammasso è di 40 minuti d'arco che, data la distanza, fornisce una dimensione effettiva massima di circa 24,2 anni luce.
Nella parte sinistra si vede parte della Nebulosa Pelliccia di Volpe
