Curiosità: Quando questa farfalla vola sembra avere le ali color verde metallizzato ma è solo un'illusione ottica! Infatti le squame sulle ali, anziché essere piatte e colorate, sono ondulate e trasparenti. In questo modo, grazie al fenomeno della rifrazione della luce, si crea un colore che, in questo lepidottero in particolar modo, cambia di continuo variando dal un blu molto intenso ad un verde molto chiaro a seconda di come la guardiamo. Questo le permette in natura di sfuggire ai predatori confondendoli.
