sbucato dal sentiero, proveniente dalla frazione di Naviledo, ecco comparire Altoggio 725m. Altoggio, la più alta e un tempo la più abitata delle frazioni di Montecrestese, è posta all'estremità settentrionale della vasta piana che una volta era coltivata a segale e prato. Il toponimo deriva da “campo elevato” e richiama la natura stessa del territorio, che costituì storicamente luogo di nascondiglio per persone e bestiame nei momenti di pericolo. Era anche un luogo di passaggio obbligato per raggiungere le corti maggengali di Coipo, della Valle Agarina, le vaste praterie alpine di Matogno, della Valle Agrasino e, dopo la costruzione del Ponte del Diavolo, per arrivare più comodamente agli alpeggi del monte Navone e Larecchio. Sono ancora visibili in molte abitazioni i tratti tipici dell'architettura popolare di Montecrestese, quali le scale di pietra ad arco rampante e l'”astric”, dove si facevano essicare granaglie e canapa. Alcuni edifici storici del paese presentano affreschi risalenti al XV secolo. In alto, sullo sfondo, il Monte Cistella.
