Vecchia guardia. Sono le prime luci dell'alba e ci stiamo sistemando per l'appostamento. Comincio a mettermi il telo mimetico sopra la testa quando vedo una cerva correre verso di noi. Mentre cerco una spiegazione alla scena appena vista due lupi spuntano dalla boscaglia correndo. Provo a scattare una foto ai lupi mentre braccano la cerva ma mi passano talmente vicino che non riesco a mettere a fuoco. Ancora incredulo scorgo sulla destra un terzo lupo uscire dalla boscaglia e fermarsi. È un lupo anziano che seguiva a passo più lento la battuta di caccia dei due lupi più giovani. Passano dei minuti che definire emozionanti non gli renderebbe giustizia. Il lupo rimane lì, scrutando quei strani cespugli da cui spunta una lente. Ci fissa per un po' e poi riparte lentamente verso gli altri due lupi, senza mai distrarre lo sguardo da noi. A distanza di qualche minuto il resto del branco passerà e insieme a loro un cucciolo scodinzolante, probabilmente felice per il pasto che starà per consumare. È stata senza dubbio l'esperienza più bella ed intensa che abbia mai vissuto da quando ho iniziato a fotografare. Lupo appenninico - PNALM - 2025
