L'ibis sacro (Threskiornis aethiopicus (Latham, 1790). È un uccello trampoliere di medie dimensioni, facilmente riconoscibile per il piumaggio prevalentemente bianco in contrasto con il capo, il collo nudi e neri, il lungo becco ricurvo verso il basso e le zampe scure. Le sue ali mostrano piume terziarie e remiganti nere con riflessi violacei. Originario dell'Africa subsahariana, dell'Iraq e anticamente dell'Egitto, dove era venerato come simbolo del dio Thot, è stato introdotto anche in Europa, inclusa l'Italia, dove è considerato una specie aliena invasiva. È una specie gregaria e socievole, che predilige ambienti umidi come paludi, fiumi e acquitrini.
