Il tempio di Angkor Wat è il più grande monumento religioso del mondo, la sua struttura architettonica comprende i muri perimetrali, il prato attorno, le mura del tempio con le sue lunghe gallerie ed infine il cuore pulsante del tempio che rappresenta il Monte Meru, la montagna sacra per le religioni indù e buddiste, con le sue cinque torri che ne simboleggiano le cime. Per salire sul Monte Meru e stata apportate una scalinata di gradini di legno molto ripida che per molti turisti è molto impegnativa, specie a chi soffre di vertigini.
