, 1/160 f/5.6, ISO 3200, hand held.

If in Sardinia, it is more likely to be a female of Sphodromantis viridis

Do you know Luigi that I had thought about it considering that both are present, but they are very similar and I can't distinguish them, do you know what are the distinctive signs between the two?

I leave you two useful links:

I thought of Sphodromantis for the evident plates on the forelimbs

I was just reading the Naturamediterraneo topic that you linked to me...
In theory I also see the plates on Hierodula but what makes me think that you are right, and that therefore it is a Sphodromantis viridis, is the prostrate, in this case, without transverse dark bands near the base that are present in Hierodula.
So thank you for the ID correction!

Rinaldo forgive me, both you and Gandino discard shots that should be immediately put to comment given their beauty.
I find this Mantis quite well executed with the usual skill with which you photograph your subjects. Personally, I would like to be at your level

Bo, Saverio, Pier and XFleshcoated thank you so much!
... discarded shots that should be immediately commented on given their beauty

I liked the photo so much too and that's why I saved it but I was a bit demoralized because the fact of having to work it on underexposed jpg files, already at 3200 ISO, gave me little margin and I was aware that the quality level of the image could not have been high.

You did very well to save it because the photo is very beautiful.
And then, the jpg is not like that... terrible.
So I, who only photograph in jpg, should trash ... all. :-D
Congratulations and regards,
Paolo
