Ti assicuro che il Sigma 8-16 è una buona lente che regala soddisfazioni e stimola la fantasia del fotografo offrendo la possibilità di esplorare punti di vista a volte insoliti.
E' una di quelle lenti che ho sempre nella borsa con me.
E' da un po' che penso di passare al FF per verificare di persona la differenza con il formato aps-c e quello che mi ha sempre impedito di farlo è proprio che non avrei più potuto usare questa lente.
Canon ha parecchie lacune nel comparto grandangoli e l'idea di comprare un 17-40 per sostituire il Sigma non mi piaceva per niente, quella lente è buona se usata a f/14 o f/16 ma se usata a diaframmi aperti è davvero scarsa.
Ora però ho deciso, sono in attesa della 6D alla quale affiancherò il Samyang 14mm.
Dovrò rinunciare all'AF ed alla compattezza del Sigma e dovrò avere a che fare con le estreme distorsioni geometriche del Sammy, quello che mi ha convinto però sono stati i rumors sulla probabile presentazione a breve da parte di Canon di un paio di nuove lenti super grandangolari con le quali spero, se ne sentirò il bisogno, di sostituire l'amato Sigma. (chissà a quale prezzo però )
L'acquisto della FF fa parte del mio percorso di crescita che, per quanto possa sembrare strano, dovrebbe poi continuare con l'approccio alle mirrorless o micro 4/3. Non mi vergogno a dire che mi diverto di più a fotografare con la compatta canon G12 che con la reflex, la differenza di file è notevole quando la luce è critica ma con condizioni buone sono riuscito a fare ottimi scatti anche con la compatta.
Tornando alla foto, la nuova Milano che sta nascendo in quell'area è già ricca di spunti interessanti per il fotografo ma lo diventerà ancora di più quando i palazzi tuttora in costruzione saranno ultimati.

I assure you that the Sigma 8-16 is a good lens that gives satisfaction and stimulates the imagination of the photographer offering the chance to explore points of view sometimes unusual.
And 'one of those lenses that I have always in my bag with me.
It 'a little' I think I go to FF to see for themselves the difference with the aps-c format and what I have always been prevented from doing it is that I could no longer use this lens.
Canon has several gaps in the sector wide angles and the idea of ??buying a 17-40 to replace the Sigma I did not like at all, that lens is good if used af/14 f/16 but if used at large apertures is really poor.
Now, however, I decided, I'm waiting for the 6D which affiancherò the Samyang 14mm.
I'll have to give up AF and the compactness of the Sigma and I'll have to deal with the extreme geometric distortions of Sammy, the one who convinced me, however, were the rumors about the likely short presentation of Canon lenses of a pair of new super wide angle with which I hope, if you feel the need to replace the beloved Sigma. (I wonder at what price peròwow!)
The purchase of the FF part of my growth path that, strange as it may seem, should also continue with the approach to the mirrorless or micro four thirds. I'm not ashamed to say that I have more fun taking pictures with the compact Canon G12 that with the SLR, the file difference is noticeable when the light is critical but with good conditions I managed to make great shots even with the compatta.
Going back to the photo, the new Milan that is emerging in the area is already full of interesting ideas for the photographer, but will become even more so when the buildings still under construction will be completed.

io lavoro in zona e ho visto quest'area crescere, ti faccio i complimenti per tutta la serie perché hai saputo trovare scorci interessanti e piacevoli che mi erano sfuggiti.
In questa foto mi piacciono molto la composizione e la luce, diversa dal solito grigiore invernale a cui sono abituata ad associare questo luogo  !
Personalmente, avrei clonato i rami al centro ma forse li hai lasciati perché sono proprio quelli che si riflettono a sinistra  .
Curiosità: hai fotografato anche le trombette? Io le trovo molto simpatiche !

I work in the area and I have seen this area grow, I congratulate you for the whole series because you've been able to find glimpses of interesting and enjoyable that I had escaped.
In this photo I really like the composition and light, different from the usual winter period to which they are accustomed to associate this place:-D!
Personally, I would have cloned the branches in the center but maybe you left them because they are the ones that are reflected on the left: fconfuso:.
Trivia:'ve also photographed the trumpets? I find them very nice ;-)!

I rametti in basso al centro sono proprio quelli che guastano un pochino la composizione, al momento dello scatto ho pensato che li avrei potuti clonare ma poi l'impresa non si dimostrava semplice, almeno per me, ed ho preferito lasciarli, pazienza.
Ho un'altro scatto dove c'è una più attenta pulizia nella composizione
In questo scatto mi interessava raccontare la presenza degli alti edifici che dominano la scena mentre in basso, sullo stesso piano, una scultura astratta ed un albero si contendono lo spazio a loro riservato rimanendo però semplici elementi di contorno alla dimostrazione di forza dei palazzi.
La fortuna ha poi voluto che in alto passasse un aereo che io interpreto come il simbolo di chi in fondo detiene il vero potere, non si mostra così palesemente come un edificio ma è il vero artefice di tutta questa "magnificenza" e lo possiamo vedere solo da lontano.
Si, ho fotografato le "trombette" , metterò la foto in questa galleria.

The twigs at the bottom center are the ones that spoil the composition a little bit, when shooting I thought I would have been able to clone but then the company is not proved simple, at least for me, and I preferred to leave them, never mind.
I have another shot where there is a more careful cleaning in the composition
In this shot, I was interested in telling the presence of tall buildings that dominate the scene while below, on the same level, an abstract sculpture and a tree for space reserved for them while remaining simple boundary element to the show of strength of the buildings.
Luck had then wanted to pass up a plane that I interpret as the symbol of those at the bottom holds the real power, does not show so clearly as a building butis the true creator of all this "magnificence" and we can only see from a distance.

Approfitto per spezzare una lancia per il 17-40 Canon: dopo essere passato al FF l'ho preso per sostituire il 10-22 Canon (mi piaceva moltissimo). Beh, devo dire che non ho affatto perso nel cambio. Non ho mai provato l'8-16 Sigma, ma penso che il 17-40 su FF sia tutt'altro che un obiettivo mediocre. Certo a diaframmi aperti non è un mostro, ma dà comunque delle soddisfazioni. Nelle mie gallerie ho diverse foto fatte con quest'ottica e credo di non aver mai usato diaframmi molto chiusi. Certo il Sammy è un 14mm e, se ti interessa soprattutto questo aspetto, tutto il discorso non vale.

Take this opportunity to strike a blow for the Canon 17-40: after switching to FF I got it to replace the Canon 10-22 (I loved it). Well, I must say that I have not lost in the transmission. I've never tried the Sigma 8-16, but I think the 17-40 on FF is anything but a mediocre goal. Sure to apertures is not a monster, but still gives satisfaction. In my galleries I have several pictures taken with this view and believe that he never used diaphragms very closed. Of course, the Sammy is a 14mm, and if you are interested above all this, all is not true.

Sono praticamente sicuro che con il Samyang sono andato a cercarmi delle belle grane ma, come ho detto, sono fiducioso nel fatto che Canon metta in giro qualche buona lente nel comparto grandangolo, un 14-24 ben fatto per me sarebbe l'ideale, abbinato al 24-105 ed al 70-300 sarei ben coperto su tutti i fronti con 3 lenti, il 17-40 mi andrebbe a coprire quei mm che già ho nello zaino con il 24-105.
