The sharpness, considering the distance you'll be shooting at, isn't bad either

I prefer this surrender to that of modern lenses

For 55 years old, the lens, with a not exactly excellent optical technology, has made a spectacular image in the blur, with an impressive cleanliness and sharpness on the subject.
Congratulations to the beauty of the soap and water girl.

Excellent shot! A perspective that still has its say today ... and that winks at telescopes. A lens that exudes charm almost sixty years later (if I remember correctly, it was marketed in 1970 ...)

From my humble vantage point, it's my favorite degree of sharpness.
I like it very much.
Greetings
Danilo

Considered mass, but above all hyperbolic weight, which forces the use of a tripod, I think it was designed for nature photography, despite the equally almost obligatory increase in ISO.
Perfect example then your use of 1/500, when for the portrait you tripod you could have used much slower time.

Congratulations, especially for the precision of the focus ... not easy with a 2,000.
Greetings.

becoming serious again.
Can I say that in terms of sharpness for portraiture it is perfect?
We are fed up with portraits where you understand how many days have passed since the last waxing come on..

Beautiful shot and a truly remarkable quality. I had the 500 f/8 latest version, moreover in pocket comparison. Now I have the 1000 f/11, also very good but not comparable to traditional modern lenses.

Thank you all for the comments!
Regarding sharpness, frankly I prefer a sharp lens... To make a photo soft you always do it in time, while it is not possible to do the opposite.
That said, for a 2000mm designed in the 60s and hit the market in 1970, 55 years ago, I would say that it is still a remarkable thing! And the shooting experience is undoubtedly extraordinary.

A perfect example then is your use of 1/500, when for a portrait on a tripod you could have used much slower time.

With 2000mm, without stabilizer, you need relatively fast times even with tripod and static subject ;-)

Thanks for this truly unique gem, I look forward to a possible 1000 f/11 card.
Thank you and greetings

Wonderful portrait!
Everything else is technical details.
