In questa immagine, un esemplare di Hippocampus reidi si ancora con la coda prehensile a una spugna. Questa specie, diffusa lungo le coste atlantiche tropicali del Sud America, è nota per la sua straordinaria capacità di cambiare colore in base all'ambiente e allo stato fisiologico. La colorazione può variare dal giallo brillante al marrone scuro, fino a tonalità aranciate o violacee, rendendo ogni individuo unico.
