Nel mio recente viaggio nelle Ande della Colombia inseguivo un sogno: immortalare una famiglia di scimmie notturne del genere Aotus, creature elusive che sfuggono anche agli occhi più esperti, di cui avevo visto qualche immagine e qualche video, ma che sono raramente riprese in natura. Per provare a trovarle avevo studiato le loro abitudini, analizzato i rari avvistamenti e pianificato ogni dettaglio insieme alla guida che mi accompagnava e alle guide locali che conoscevano i sentieri invisibili. Ma la realtà della foresta non si piega mai ai programmi umani. Per giorni, nulla. Poi un fortunato e occasionale incontro con un gatto tigre e molti bellissimi uccelli. Ma la ricerca delle scimmie notturne rivelava solo ombre, rumori lontani e la frustrazione che cresceva. Ma il penultimo giorno del viaggio, mentre perlustravamo un tratto di foresta vicino a San Rafael, un lieve fruscio tra i rami ci ha fatto fermare… quattro occhi lucenti ci fissavano da una spaccatura di un tronco. Erano due Aotus!! Ho trattenuto il respiro e con le mani tremanti per l'emozione, ho regolato la fotocamera e puntato l'obiettivo. Una serie di scatti, poi un'altra. Fu un momento sospeso, fragile come la nebbia che avvolgeva le montagne attorno a noi. Poi, come erano apparse, rientrarono nel loro rifugio segreto. Sono rimasto lì, con il cuore che martellava nel petto e un sorriso incredulo. Avevo ottenuto ciò che cercavo: non solo una fotografia, ma un frammento intimo di una vita nascosta, un segreto sussurrato dalla foresta. Sono rientrato al lodge con gli occhi lucidi. Non era solo la fatica, era la bellezza cruda e silenziosa di aver condiviso, per un istante, il respiro della natura. Antioquia, Colombia, Agosto 2025.
