Per me e la mia famiglia questo castello perfettamente restaurato e la vicina città di Utrecth sono stati una piacevolissima sorpresa. Durante i nostri molti viaggi nei Paesi Bassi non eravamo mai stati in questa regione che devo dire molto bella. Il castello di De Haar, conosciuto localmente come Kasteel de Haar, si trova vicino al villaggio di Haarzuilens, nella provincia di Utrecht, nei Paesi Bassi. Il Castello di De Haar è probabilmente il castello più visitato dei Paesi Bassi, dopo il Castello di Muiden . Questo castello gotico da fiaba che vediamo oggi, tuttavia, fu costruito tra il 1892 e il 1912, incorporando le grandi rovine del castello originale del XV secolo. Il castello di De Haar fu fondato nel XIV secolo su depositi di sedimenti lungo un braccio cieco del fiume Reno. La sua prima menzione risale al 1391.
