La livrea giallo-nera (talvolta rosso-nera) funge da avvertimento per i predatori, segnalando il sapore sgradevole dell'insetto. Specie fitofaga, si nutre di linfa e semi di piante della famiglia delle Apiaceae come carota, prezzemolo e anice.
