Incontro affascinante in una palude collegata al Lago Vittoria (Uganda). Se si ha la fortuna di incontrarlo, è un soggetto perfetto per i fotografi, perché ha una tecnica di caccia simile a quella dei coccodrilli: anziché inseguire, magari volando, la preda, resta immobile per minuti attendendo che un pesce o un altra preda gli passi sotto, dopodiché si immerge per catturarlo. Specie a rischio di estinzione. Le guide locali lo descrivono come un uccello preistorico, ma in realtà non lo è.
