Nel 1885 , in particolare , venne costruito l'Home Insurance Building , alto 42 m. e considerato il primo grattacielo della storia , perché introdusse questo nuovo tipo di edificio , diffusosi poi in tutti gli Stati Uniti e nel mondo .
